Adrian Iowa is one of the most innovative, interesting and
diverse musicians/artists of our time ...
He is a musician, guitarist, composer, arranger, producer,
founder of the band PROTOTYP, web- and sound designer, audio
engineer, founder and owner of the music production company
PROTOTYP Music Entertainment, Audio/Video & Multimedia
Productions and founder of his organization Messengers Of
Art/We Are United! W.A.U.! He takes on commissioned
composites and, importantly for him, he is his own manager. In
addition, Adrian Iowa has been an "Independent" for decades, an independent musician who is against record contracts
with the so-called "Major Labels". Everything related to him and his music is produced independently in his home studio
in Hechingen. Adrian's musical and artistic experimentation is so great that he doesn't fit into any pigeonhole. His music
sometimes reminds of Pink Floyd or Mike Oldfield, incorporates prog or classical elements, but in the end it always
remains the "PROTOTYP sound", (or as he affectionately calls it "prototypmusic") his musical fingerprint.

In 1981 Adrian Iowa and three friends founded the band PROTOTYP. And
"prototyp" became program for the band. At every concert the four
musicians presented new compositions, there were no repetitions! Who has
seen and heard this band once, knows from now on how and why they
manage to inspire the masses at the first go! The melodies are catchy, the
lyrics are memorable. What comes out is merciless entertainment full of
surprises and because they never tire of proving their qualities live, their
performance is clearly a must see!!! The founder of the band is Adrian Iowa,
he is the composer and lyricist of this band. (Some of his poems have

ABOUT ADRIAN IOWA AND HIS BAND PROTOTYP
Band was that over 6 years (1981-1987) was dispensed with the bass guitar.
But this was compensated by the development of their own guitar tuning
and gave the prototype sound, the somewhat different... For years, only
instrumentals were played, although finished lyrics were available.... Adrian
Iowa wanted to draw the attention of the audience to the specially tuned
guitar. Adrian Iowa and his band , which is called PROTOTYP and is defined
somewhere between production team, studio musicians, family and band,
has added new fellow musicians to start this project, a rock opera, or what
he himself affectionately calls "a musical event of a special kind", called THE
SNOW STAR.
STATEMENT/CLARIFICATION
WHY PROTOTYP?

-Adrian Iowa developed his own guitar tuning in
1979 and through it his own playing technique....

-The first band lineup consisted of 2 x 6 sided
guitarists and 2 drummers.... a "prototype"
-The band PROTOTYP played for 6 years without a
bass guitar and only instrumentals... a

-The band played different songs at every concert,

with a record company... a "prototype"
A prototype often serves as a preparation for a
serial production, but it can also be planned as
a unique piece, which is only intended to
illustrate a certain concept...
A prototype is an original type, form or case of
something that serves as a typical example, basis
or standard for other things of the same
category.
The word is based on the Greek πρωτότυπον
(prototypon)....

something that has already had success. Yes, I know, that's what the industry likes to do: rather
have something known restaged than dare to do something new. As a creative musician it is not in
my sense to clone "Sissis", "Tarzans", "HänselundGretels", "Abbamamias" and to present to the
audience what has already been presented umpteen times. Others have done that before, and
that's a good thing. Music is a creative process as well as a constant interaction between artist and
audience. Besides, music lives on emotions. There is no need to copy what has already been
successful. The new, the unfamiliar has to come out. I have that."

PROTOTYP
1981 gründete Adrian Iowa mit drei Freunden, die
Band PROTOTYP. Und "Prototyp" wurde Programm
für die Band. Bei jedem Konzert präsentierten die
vier Musiker neue Kompositionen, Wiederholungen
gab es nicht! Wer diese Band einmal gesehen und
gehört hat, weiß fortan, wie und warum sie es auf
Anhieb schaffen, die Massen zu begeistern! Die
Melodien gehen ins Ohr, die Texte prägen sich ein.
Was herauskommt, ist gnadenloses Entertainment
voller Überraschungen und weil sie nicht müde
werden, ihre Qualitäten auch live unter Beweis zu
stellen, ist ihr Auftritt ganz klar ein Muss!!
Gründer der Band ist Adrian Iowa, er ist Komponist
und Texter dieser Band. (Einige seiner Gedichte sind
in Zeitschriften erschienen). Auffallend an dieser
Band war, dass über 6 Jahre hinweg (1981-1987) auf
die Bass Gitarre verzichtet wurde. Das wurde aber
durch die Entwicklung einer eigenen
Gitarrenstimmung kompensiert und gab dem
Prototyp Sound, das etwas andere... Jahrelang
wurden nur Instrumentalstücke gespielt, obwohl
fertige Texte vorhanden waren... Adrian Iowa wollte
die Aufmerksamkeit des Publikums auf die speziell
gestimmte Gitarre lenken.
Adrian Iowa und seine Band , die sich PROTOTYP
nennt und sich irgendwo zwischen Produktionsteam,
Studiomusikern, Familie und Band definiert, hat neue
Mitmusiker dazu gewonnen, um dieses Projekt, eine
Rockoper, oder das er selber liebevoll „ein
musikalisches Ereignis der besonderen Art“ nennt,
namens „DIE QUADRATUR DES KREISES/SQUARING
THE CIRCLE“ zu starten.

Ein Prototyp ist ein Originaltyp, eine
Originalform oder ein Originalfall von
etwas, die als ein typisches Beispiel,
Basis oder Norm für andere Dinge von
derselben Kategorie dient.
Das Wort beruht auf dem Griechischen
πρωτότυπον (prototypon)…

SEIT 1981 EXISTIERT

„Ganz getreu meinem Motto: “NOT BETTER
THAN THE OTHERS - JUST OTHER THAN THE
BEST - So, B OriGinaL, don’t ImiTate!” also
"nicht besser als die anderen, sondern anders
als die Besten" möchte ich etwas Frisches in
die Musiklandschaft bringen und nicht etwas
imitieren, was schon Erfolg hatte. Ja, ich weiß,
das macht die Industrie gerne: lieber etwas
Bekanntes neu inszenieren lassen als etwas
Neues zu wagen. Als kreativer Musiker ist es
nicht in meinem Sinne „Sissis“, „Tarzans“,
„HänselundGretels“, „Abbamamamias“ zu
klonen und dem Publikum das zu
präsentieren, was schon zig Male präsentiert
wurde. Das haben schon andere gemacht, und
das ist auch gut so. Musik ist ein
schöpferischer Prozess sowie ein ständiges
Interagieren zwischen Künstler und Publikum.
Außerdem lebt Musik von Emotionen. Das,
was schon Erfolg hatte, braucht man nicht zu
kopieren. Das Neue, das Ungewohnte muss
raus. Das habe ich.“
